Product Description

People Power: Insurgency in the Philippines, 1983 - 1986 is the eleventh volume of the well - regarded and popular COIN Series initially crafted by Volko Ruhnke. Unlike most games in the series, this one features three distinct factions instead of the usual four. The first faction represents the Government, symbolized by Ferdinand Marcos' personal rule, his wife Imelda, and his political allies and military forces. The second faction is the NPA. Inspired by successful Marxist revolutions in China, Cuba, and Nicaragua, these insurgents aimed to spark a national uprising among both urban and rural populations and establish their own form of self - governance to replace the Marcos regime. The third faction consists of non - violent Reformers, personified by Aquino’s widow, Corazon. Along with her allies and supporters, she revived a platform of social justice that would bring about a huge change in the Philippine political scene. The game comes with a wide range of components, including a 17x22 inch mounted mapboard, an Event Deck, a Card - Driven Solo - System Deck, 80 wooden pieces, 12 pawns, a full - size, full - color counter sheet, a Rules of Play booklet, a Playbook booklet, three 6 - sided dice, and three foldout play aid sheets. This game offers an immersive experience of the historical events in the Philippines during that period, making it a great choice for history buffs and board game enthusiasts alike.

How to use: First, read through the Rules of Play booklet carefully to understand the basic game mechanics. Set up the 17x22 inch mounted mapboard and lay out the 80 wooden pieces and 12 pawns according to the starting setup described in the booklet. Shuffle the Event Deck and the Card - Driven Solo - System Deck. Each player or faction then takes turns following the rules in the playbook. Roll the three 6 - sided dice when required during the game. The foldout play aid sheets can be used as a quick reference. Notes: Make sure to handle the cards and wooden pieces gently to avoid damage. Keep the dice in a safe place to prevent them from getting lost. If you are playing with children, supervise them to ensure they understand the rules. Maintenance: After each game, put all the components back in their proper place. You can use a soft cloth to clean the mapboard if it gets dirty. Store the game in a dry and cool place to prevent the cards from warping or the wooden pieces from getting damaged.
